Taxis & Train

Like every other Sunday night, you'll always find that you have lots of energy just right before bedtime. You'll find that you only managed to sleep just at about...20 minutes or so after the stated time which you've silently concluded prior to that.

Like...20 minutes past 11pm, when you're supposed to get up at 6am and get to school, dressed, locking items in the locker AND ready in class by 8.30am.

Boy, I woke up at 6.10am after a standard 10minutes snooze, and find that, at 6am...the sky here is already as bright as 8am in Singapore! I washed up and had enough time to heat up my breakfast and enjoy the music videos playing on cable.

If there's one thing I can duplicate from Singapore to here, that will be - the taxi uncles. Yes, really! The taxi uncles! I know some uncles can be really muddleheaded, mean and what not...but at least, name any Hotels in Singapore and they more or less know how to get there!

I had like 3 gigantic bags to carry to school this morning, basically my tool kits, food container, uniforms, safety shoes, textbooks and folders, personal belongings - all of which, is already more than the weight of 3 huge watermelons. The easiest way I figured to get to school, would be to get a cab and head to Dusit Thani Hotel.

I managed to flag down not 1 but 3 cabs; two of which took me 100m each down the street and confessed they don't know the way. The final one was telling me that he would take the highway and down to the Silom District. Halfway through the main road journey, he confessed that he wasn't confident enough to bring me there.

Like, WTF? I was 99.9% close to whacking him with the tool kit I have in my hand.  *pulls hair*

I woke up 2 and a half hour earlier just to accommodate the Bangkok Jam and to get to school earlier, thinking that cabbing down would be easier, but it's not! The cab drivers don't even know how to get to their famous hotel!! Fortunately, he did his confession just right before the entrance of a MRT Station. I think my guardian angels were helping me.

Armed with 3 bags, I scurried down the stairs and prayed hard that I won't get stopped by securities and get denied to carry in my tool kit (Since it's full of knives and I don't want to be mistaken as some dangerous criminal) I got past and jumped onto the train heading to Hua Lamphong (Which is the last station of that line).

Okay, so...I'm on the train, standing by a pole, my largest bag on the floor with the tool kit above it and I am standing over my belongings, trying my best to hold on and not fall over. Then I noticed that every one else, is standing NOT facing towards the doors BUT facing the 'head' of the train. like everyone is slotting themselves that way while I am the only one facing the doors.

What. Is. Going. On???

I felt like a fish in the school who's swimming in opposite directions.

So, I got to my station and hurried down to school. As usual, there's so many people around waiting for the class to start. I went to the VESTIAIRE, which is the female locker room and found my locker unit. Fast forward, I was all dressed up and a friendly senior who's doing Intermediate Pastry strikes up a conversation with me. She hoped that I would get Chef Mark, for my first lesson - who is, apparently the tallest chef in the school, and he's supposedly very kind and nice.

I gathered all my books and went to class, first lesson was Demonstration Class, where the chef will demonstrate 1 or 2 recipes and then you'll be allowed to take a few photos at the end and tasting will be done. This is the part to concentrate and take notes as you will be required to use the same techniques during the Practical Class.

I took the third row seat, sat right in the middle and waited for class to start. I took a look around, and noticed that there was not a single face that I can recognised from the Orientation. I took a second look (or rather, a 4th look since I arrived in school) at the timetable and then realise, I wasn't wrong. I'm definitely in the right classroom.

Only thing is, this is not my class. My class, is tomorrow.

If you are gasping, shaking your head AND covering your face with your hand in horror, don't worry, you're not alone.  I did the exact same sequence.

From the timetable, you can see that there's no class on Monday. Don't ask me....I can't even.
*facepalm*

With much dignity, I gathered my stuff and got out of the classroom like a road runner. I went back to the locker room and changed out of my uniform, there, I met another senior who's really nice and I spill the beans to her on my situation. She was sympathetic towards my situation and joked that,  that's what happens when one is too excited for school!

I guess I was!

Well, at least I deposited most of my items in school already, and tomorrow will be a breeze getting to school! Maybe I shall practice how to 'slot' myself in, on tomorrow's train trip!

I'm pretty sure I'll get to post up pictures of pastries tomorrow! Till then, have a great Monday!  =D
